For Maryam and Yaseen
“I thought motherhood would simply become another beautiful chapter in my story. Instead, it became the story.
The day I became your mom, my world turned upside down, and almost every part of that change was for the better.”
To My Dearest Maryam and Yaseen,
My precious hearts,
If there is one thing I hope you always know, it is this: every single day of my life revolves around you.
Even when you’re not next to me, you’re with me in every thought, every decision, every dream, and every plan I make. Almost everything I do somehow leads back to you. Every choice I make carries one simple question in my heart: Will this make life better for Maryam and Yaseen?
Before you came into my life, I had already built a life I was proud of. I worked hard, chased my dreams, achieved more than I ever imagined, and patiently waited for the day I would become a mother. I thought motherhood would simply become another beautiful chapter in my story.
Instead, it became the story.
The day I became your mom, my world turned upside down, and almost every part of that change was for the better.
I wanted to be everything. The supermom. The one who never got tired, never made mistakes, never lost patience, and always had the right answer.
Then the two of you arrived… and gently taught me one of life’s greatest lessons.
Being the best mom isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up. It’s about learning. It’s about growing. It’s about loving so deeply that you’re willing to become a better person every single day.
You challenge me constantly. You make me rethink things I was once so sure about. You push every button I have. You make me laugh until I can’t breathe, and sometimes you make me question my own sanity.
But every challenge has shaped me. Every conversation has taught me. Every hug has healed me. Every difficult day has made me stronger.
You haven’t just grown because of me, I have grown because of you.
You’ve made me become a better version of myself, not only as your mother, but as a woman, a daughter, a wife, a friend, and a human being.
Yes… we drive each other crazy sometimes. The house gets loud. We argue. We negotiate. We test each other’s patience. And then something funny happens.
If the house stays quiet for too long, I start missing the very chaos I was wishing would stop. I miss your voices. Your questions. Your laughter. Even your endless negotiations. It’s strange, isn’t it? But I think that’s love.
I am endlessly grateful that out of everyone in this world, I was chosen to be your mom. What a privilege. What an honor.
I’m blessed to watch you discover who you are. I’m blessed to hold your hand when you need guidance, to step back when you need space, and to cheer louder than anyone as you become the incredible people you’re meant to be.
Please remember this as you grow older:
You never have to earn my love.
You never have to be perfect.
You never have to become someone else to make me proud.
I will always be proud of you, not because of your grades, your achievements, or the paths you choose, but because you are Maryam and Yaseen. That will always be enough.
Thank you for making me a mother. Thank you for teaching me lessons no book ever could. Thank you for filling my life with purpose, laughter, challenges, unforgettable memories, and a love I never knew could exist.
No matter how tall you grow, how far life takes you, or how independent you become, you will always be the two little hearts that completely transformed mine.
I love you more than words will ever be able to explain.
Forever and always,
Mama
Ghofran Murad is a Dubai-based communications enthusiast, blessed mum to Maryam and Yaseen, and someone who has somehow mastered the art of being in ten places mentally at the same time.
She is deeply ambitious about her career. She loves what she does, creating, leading, challenging herself, and seeing an idea grow into something that makes a real impact. Becoming a mother never made her want to dream smaller; if anything, it gave her even more reason to keep growing. She wants her children to see a mother who is fully present in their lives, but who also has dreams of her own, works hard for them, celebrates what she achieves, and is never afraid to aim higher. And somewhere between motherhood, career ambitions, family commitments, school schedules and the never-ending WhatsApp messages, she still believes in “stealing” time with her husband.
She wants to raise happy, confident children, remain close to the parents who shaped her, keep growing alongside the man she chose, and continue building a career she is genuinely proud of while enjoying the beautiful, sometimes crazy life happening in between.
